Mykola
Mykola passed away peacefully in the morning of October 3rd, 2026.
Mykola Bondar—a Ukrainian—arrived in Auroville in January 2022.
From his very first steps in India, he was struck by the warmth and openness of Indian hearts, the radiant smiles, and the friendliness of everyone he met. He felt ready to embrace and kiss every person he encountered. It felt as though he had returned home after long journeys along the various paths of life...
From his very first days, he began working in the Matrimandir gardens, tending to the grounds beneath the Banyan tree. He deeply regretted that his age prevented him from contributing to Auroville’s construction in his professional field; he was an excellent civil engineer who had dedicated over 50 years of his life to that work.
Every day of his work within the atmosphere of the Matrimandir was filled with the joy of being useful to Auroville—of being part of Auroville’s aspiration to build a New World on Earth... He wanted to contribute to this process...
Two years later, he was forced to stop working due to health issues. Yet, every day, his heart and thoughts remained there.
He possessed a great, luminous soul; he was open and receptive to the Mother’s Force and filled with love for everyone he met on his life’s journey, sharing the joy and warmth of his soul with all. Everyone who knew him retains warm memories and the sense of the pure inner light that Mykola brought into this world.
Mykola, my father, passed away quietly and peacefully early in the morning on October 3rd—just before waking—with a blissful smile on his face and his gaze resting upon the portrait of the Mother...
The funeral of Myloka's remains took place on Saturday, 10.10.26, at the Auroville burial ground at 3:30 pm.
With appreciation and gratitude, Oleg
