Ishwar Prakash Gupta
Abha's father, Dr Ishwar Prakash Gupta, died of a sudden cardiac arrest in the evening of 29th May in their Utility house. He was 87.
A retired university professor, Dr I. P Gupta, relocated from Delhi to Auroville in 2017, to spend his final days in the company of his youngest daughter, and grandsons Aditya and Akshay. He was already suffering from multiple ailments including diabetes, asthma, and heart problems.
He will be missed by all who knew him as a warm-hearted idealist who encouraged everyone to follow their inner guide.
Dr Gupta's remains were cremated at Auroville's mandappam onThursday afternoon of 31st May at 5 pm. His son, Manoj Prakash, who lives in the UK, did the final rites, in the presence of family members and friends. Abha's older sister Anita Kapila arrived a day later from the US where she lives.
Abha's widowed mother continues to reside in Utility with her.
