The Secretary

For the day-to-day management of the Foundation, the Central Government appoints a Secretary who is responsible to the Chairman of the Governing Board.
 

The Secretary is a high-level officer from the Indian Administrative Service or a similar organisation. The Secretary lives in Auroville.
 

From November 2011 Mr. Loganathan, Registrar of Pondicherry University, has functioned as temporary Secretary in-charge.
 

From 7th March 2012, Mr. N. Bala Bhaskar, I.A.S (Retd.) has been appointed as Secretary of the Auroville Foundation for a period of 3 years.

Mr Bala Bhaskar had been holding this chair from 1996 till 2001 and is familiar with the workings of the township.
