| Marketing coordinators |
The marketing coordinators are needed for working on the objectives
arising from the AVFG strategic plan:
- Ensuring Food Link is
effectively promoting and harmonizing production and consumption
within Auroville and beyond.
The coordinators will ensure that
consumers become increasingly informed about AVFG produce and
what it stands for in two ways: Improved point of sale information;

| Designers of promotional material |
The AVFG needs labels and other material to promote AV food
products. Easily identifiable logos as well as standardised packaging
and labelling are required. In addition, other materials are required
to raise the profile of AV food products, for examples posters,
brochures etc. |

| Facilitate AVFG certification |
Much needs to be done for an appropriate method of certification
for the AVFG. Minimum standards need to be agreed on by the farmers
and a credible certification system introduced. Certification of
produce will directly influence the pricing of AV food products

| Logistics and distribution |
The assignment entails investigating options for a common collection
and distribution system for the AVFG, including an analysis of
cost-effectiveness and ensuring the timely distribution of produce |

The AVFG would like to recruit individuals with experience or
enthusiasm for sales. This person will be working within Pour Tous
and have regular and direct contact with FoodLink currently in
the solar kitchen. |

Food production

| Farmers |
The AVFG is constantly looking for future Aurovilians to become
directly involved in the running of farms. These AV newcomers would
work initially on an established farm, after which they may be
in a position to start a new venture, or else continue in their
current position. |

| Animal production |
Technical advice is sought in the area of animal production,
for both dairies and poultries. This role would be ideally suited
for students or graduates in animal production. |

| Agronomist / soil scientist |
|
Based on the findings of the farm assessment a student
or graduate in agronomy or soil science is sought to assess
and determine the most effective means of increasing the
soil organic matter on AV farms.

| Food science |
The AVFG aims to ensure the quality of their produce by carrying
out tests on specific items of food produced in Auroville. These
tests would ideally serve as baseline information for improvements
in current practices and serve as a guarantee of the organic nature
of produce in Auroville |

| Irrigation |
A technical expert in the management of water for irrigation
on-farms is required, building on the initial findings of the assessment
group. This person would preferably be a graduate in irrigation
of general agriculture, with a working knowledge of computers. |

| Data entry |
People proficient with spread sheets and database are required
to carry on the data gathering role begun by the assessment team.
This role would require some visits to farms as well as data entry
and some analysis |

The AVFG is currently looking for an appropriate accounts package,
as well as a “whole farm” database. Individuals who are qualified
in this area are strongly encouraged to apply in the fields of
programming, and computer training |

At least one person is required by the AVFG to carry out capacity
building in terms of human resources. This would require an initial
assessment with the provision of on-going training particularly
in the area of management and all aspects of food production. |

up with a common labour policy as well as advice farmers on how
to improve labour relations |
