2. Work Description
Goal : Investigate networking channels, lobbying and fundraising in order to support Aurovillian stake holders, using UNESCO and other possible official channels.
Skills Required (not all is required)
• Lobbying experience
• Writing project proposals and reports
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of International contexts and stakes

• Located in Auroville's Town Hall, L'Avenir is involved with urban development and planning.
Volunteers Needed: To conduct research and field surveys and implement actions in the different work areas of the unit. |

Goal: Conduct research and field surveys and implement actions in the different work areas of the unit.
Skills Required: (not all are needed in one person)
• Urban designers: architects, engineers, planners, landscapers
• Civil engineers (roads, grids, etc)
• Construction technicians (plumbers, gardeners, electricians, etc)
• Project managers
• Technical designers
• Environmental engineers
• GIS specialists
• Geologists

1. Unit : L'Avenir d'Auroville
• The IPP (Integrated Planning Project) is in the process of involving the whole community of Auroville into a participatory movement of expressing the needs of the different areas, in order to ground the planning development of the township into the future realities of the site and of the community.
Volunteers Needed: 5-6 volunteers for facilitating and documenting the process of expressing the vision of the future city |
2. Work Description
• Goal : The facilitation and documentation of the process.
Activities :
• Ask units to define the vision of their area for the next 5 years.
• Facilitating meetings and taking notes
• Summarising the ideas expressed on future needs (in an already prepared format)
Skills Required :
• English speaking and writing fluency
• Good experience in project management, office work, administrative tasks,
• Interest in the project

Duration : minimum of 3 months, ideally 6 months +

2. Work Description
Goal : A preliminary legal study towards creating an internal non-judicial advisory body within the framework of Auroville's ideals and Auroville Foundation Act.
The main goals of this body is to
• To advise, from time to time, the official working groups of Auroville on the legal issues concerning the community
• To work towards a system of natural justice to suit the uniqueness of Auroville without the rigidity of law
• To formulate codes of conduct, rules and regulations ,to accommodate an international participating.
Activities :
• Investigating official texts,
• Creating an inventory of local resources (documents, people…
• Exploring the stakes and threats, strengths and weaknesses
• Interviewing several knowledgeable Aurovilians
• Referencing International and Indian law,
• Keeping notes of meetings
Skills Required :
- Legal knowledge
- International law,
- Institutional Relationships
- Openness and flexibility
- Consultancy methodology

Goal :
• Creating a centre of excellence for sustainable urbanization and development based on integral planning methods
• Setting up an educational Sustainable Visitors Management in Auroville,
• Other topics related to urban development (roads/mobility, infrastructure, habitat, etc.)
Activities :
• Understand the context of urban and sustainable development of Auroville
• Read existing reports and survey documents related to future projects
• Interview experts and coordinators of L'Avenir
• Follow requirements of structuring the presentation of the projects
• Write requested project proposals
• Transcribe technical contents into project proposals
Skills Required :
• Technical knowledge : architecture, engineering, planning, landscaping, Civil engineers
• Some basic knowledge or experience in project management
• Good linguistic skills in English
• Good writing skills, in a concise and clear manner. – Project writing
3. Time Frame : Oct 2009 onwards
Duration : 4 to 6 months
