AVAG Volunteer Mission Work Proposal [05]

1. Unit : AVAG (Auroville Village Action Group)

• AVAG is an NGO that specializes in social work and extends its action to 40 villages around AV. It supports 200 women's groups (4000 members) and 15 men's groups (800 members)

Volunteers Needed:
For editing, office work, and graphic communication

2. Work Description

Goal : To prepare the Annual Report on all activities of the unit under the umbrella of AVAG for the Auroville Foundation.

Activities:

• Conduct some research on the perspectives of each AVAG unit

• Illustrate with photos and some anecdotes

• Make necessary enquiries to get some details

• Make an attractive tool for the presentation of AVAG activities and allow volunteer to get a good understanding of the work conducted by AVAG

Skills Required (not all is required)

• Writing and reporting skills

• Ability to work with desktop publishing: Photoshop, etc

• Good communication skills

1. Unit : AVAG (Auroville Village Action Group)

• AVAG is an NGO that specializes in social work and extends its action to 40 villages around AV. It supports 200 women's groups (4000 members) and 15 men's groups (800 members)

Volunteers Needed: To carry out a variety of missions

2. Work Description

Goal : All actions are aimed at strengthening AVAG efficiency, giving support and tools to promote sustainable development in the villages.

Activities: 6 Missions can be entrusted to different volunteers.

Support enterprise development among group members:

• Collecting information on projected activities for the AVAG groups who want to create new activities, businesses and IGA

• Giving advice and training on how to start and handle enterprise development

• Bridging with Auroville units, fostering collaboration/coordination with existing groups/projects/units of AV.

Social research on financial activities (savings & credits programmes)

• Research and advise on how to optimize investments, how to handle savings.

• Investigate and survey the impact of these “savings & credits” programmes on the family life, consequences and behaviours.

Activity Report writing, documenting the different AVAG programmes (see other article)

Writing new project proposals for fundraising purposes

Create/update website on AVAG activities

• Write Internet content, post existing material

• Searching photos and images for illustrations

Create training material in English for seminars and gatherings (posters, slides, videos on topics such as health issues, sustainable practices in agriculture, etc.) Create materials drawn from accumulated experiences.

Skills Required (detailed for each mission listed above)

1. Experience or education in entrepreneurship, project management, marketing & sales for small scale enterprises

• training capacities for small groups, coaching entrepreneurs in their starting business

• good communication skills

• adaptability to new environments

• sense of organisation and coordination processes

2. Financial skills in microfinance

• Indian financial market knowledge or faculties to investigate it

• social investigation knowledge, capacity to conduct social survey

3. Writing & summarising in English

4. Structured mental skills to elaborate, synthesize and write grant requests

5. Website design, development and content editing capacities

6. Communication skills

• Pedagogy, sense of relationship

• capacity of expression through images

• technical skills in graphic design, photo, video
